Had an interesting conversation with a woman in my pilates class tonight. About her friend who has good luck with his Fibro using some sort of cannabis oil that doesn’t have THC in it.
It got me thinking.
One of the things that struck me is that minute that someone finds out about the Fibro, they have a “friend” who has tried this “treatment” and it is always a miracle cure. Most days I want to strangle them.
But, I am getting much better at talking to people. My new line is, “That is so great that your friend feels better doing that. I have a great treatment plan that works wonders for me.”
I still think, “if one more person tells me how to treat my body…..” You can imagine where it goes from there.
I used to be really frustrated with all the different “cures” that people have told me about. I have tried a ton. And I learned that knowing my body is way more important than just trying something willy-nilly.
Turns out, everyone’s body is different. What works for me probably won’t work for you. I use acupuncture to deal with a lot of my ups and downs and I know that sleep is my key to staying on track. I also know that won’t work for everyone, just like going gluten-free made me sicker not better. And I know lots of people who swear by diet changes, they just haven’t worked for me.
So, I am learning to practice a little more kindness and love with other people. I feel empathy for them, wish them well, and go on my way. They feel heard, and I don’t strangle them. It is a win-win.
In the end, all that matters is the kindness and love. To others and to ourselves. Keep practicing that and you will always win!
